KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Wednesday, September 14, 2011
8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

BRIAN WESBURY
"It's Still Not As Bad As You Think"

From the depths of what has been called the"worst economic crisis since the Great Depression," the US economy has been remarkably resilient. Real GDP has expanded for five consecutive quarters, consumer
spending is at an all-time high and private sector jobs have expanded for 10 straight months. This recovery was predicted by our speaker, but the mood of the country remains cautious or even fearful. With the Congress changing hands and the Fed printing even more money, the future is dynamic. Brian Wesbury, a nationally-known economist, will defend his predictions from last year and cast a vision for the future.

Brian Wesbury is Chief Economist at First Trust Advisors L.P., a financial services firm based in Wheaton, Illinois. The Wall Street Journal ranked Mr. Wesbury the nation's #1 U.S. economic forecaster in 2001, USA Today ranked him as one of the nation's top 10 forecasters in 2004 and Speakers Platform named him a Top 5 Keynote Speaker in 2011.

DAVID RABINER
"Peak Performance During Challenging Times"

David Rabiner's presentation will focus on the principles of peak performance, including a discussion of the most important qualities (or areas of focus) for leading a group during challenging times; the obstacles that keep people from acting consistently with those qualities, and a step-by-step process that ends with turning those qualities into personal virtues and an organizational culture. He will discuss the important differences between individuals (and organizations) that operate at the high end of the bell curve and those that operate in the middle. The program will conclude with an important leadership tool for communicating effectively, making difficult discussions easier, and keeping good talent.

This program promises be powerful, fast-paced, and very entertaining. Most important, for each participant will leave with the tools to create a personal leadership and peak performance plan.

APPLICATION SEMINAR

Thursday, September 15, 2011
8 a.m.-10 a.m.

Are you using other materials in your applications when plastics are the better choice? In your existing applications, switching to plastics can:

  • Increase productivity
  • Lower costs
  • Reduce strain on machinery
  • Improve chemical resistance
  • Eliminate lubrication
  • Improve aesthetics

This seminar, presented by experts in the plastics industry, will help you identify different industries and applications so you can use plastics in the most innovative way. It will cover some of the most relevant industries for plastics shapes applications, including food and beverage, architectural, signs and display, electrical power plants, recreation and transportation.

Admission is included in full-convention and Expo-only registration.

When you leave the IAPD Plastics Applications Seminar, you’ll be able to:

  • Locate and specify applications for plastics shapes
  • Identify how plastics can benefit your existing applications
  • Ask the seven most important questions
  • Match materials with applications
  • Think creatively of new ways to use plastic materials
  • Put this new-found knowledge into practice
