Blackhurst assumes IAPD Sale Manager position

IAPD has selected Dave Blackhurst as the organization’s new Sales Manager. This position is responsible for print advertising, online advertising, exhibition and sponsorship sales.

Blackhurst began his advertising sales career with Gannett Newspapers and later joined Landon Media Group, a large local newspaper representative firm. His responsibilities included assisting sales initiatives with newspapers nationwide as well as print, online and sponsorship sales.

“Dave brings a wide range of experience to the table including lead generation, account acquisition and retention and business-to-consumer sales. He has impeccable attention to detail as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks. We are looking forward to having Dave as part of the IAPD team,” says Susan Avery, CAE, IAPD Executive Director.

“I am excited about joining the talented staff at IAPD headquarters, and am looking forward to making contributions that will spur new revenue growth for this organization. The magazine, online platforms and the annual convention are all valuable marketing tools for IAPD members. I look forward to consulting with our members to ensure their marketing messages are effectively distributed,” says Blackhurst.

Blackhurst holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa. In his free time, he officiates volleyball for the Kansas State High School Athletic Association as well as youth and adult leagues throughout Johnson County, Kansas. Blackhurst is married with a teenage daughter who actively participates in high school and club level volleyball and soccer.

The sales manager position was previously held by Crystal Roberts, who has been promoted to deputy executive director/director of business development. Roberts will lead the sales and membership departments in their efforts to retain and recruit members and grow IAPD offerings and value-added services for all IAPD members. Further, her business development role will allow IAPD to increase its focus and capacity in entering new areas of growth, including partnerships and alliances, promulgation of IAPD’s educational products and services internationally and deepen IAPD’s relationships within the plastics distribution supply chain.
