Changes Announced for Certified Professional Manufacturers' Representative (CPMR) Program
Interested in becoming a Certified Professional Manufacturers’ Representative (CPMR)?
Starting in 2012, meetings for the CPMR program will move from Arizona to Indianapolis and Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis. They will be held every May. The dates for 2012 are May 20-25, with class starting on Monday, May 21. CPMR arrival day is Sunday, May 20 with class beginning on Monday, May 21. The exam is on Friday, May 25. Read more.

Recognizing Norman Drucker, Iconic Plastics Professional

Mia Katz Named New Managing Editor
In March 2011, Mia Katz became the managing editor of online and print publications for IAPD. Katz will take over the responsibilities of Janet Thill, who, after 22 years, will be retiring in mid-June. Katz will work closely with the IAPD Editorial Committee, as well as the marketing, education and sales team to collaborate on material that can increase awareness of the association, enhance the value of membership and increase the value of and interest in The IAPD Magazine and other publications.
Thill, who was the director of publications for IAPD for more than two decades, received The Good Egg Award at the IAPD Annual Convention in 2003 and the Paul Davis Award of Merit in 2008. After spending some time in Hawaii, she plans to contribute to IAPD on a contract basis. A special retirement party for Janet was held Thursday, May 12, at the IAPD Leadership Summit in Kansas City.
Plastics Certificate Program Graduates

Developed by the IAPD Education Committee, this programs helps educate and evaluate sales professionals in the plastics distribution industry.

May’s Designing with Plastics Focuses on Nylon
The next issue of Designing with Plastics will review the evolution of the art of casting nylon from the perspective of Mike Worthington, chief engineer for Cast Nylons Ltd., in Willoughby, Ohio. Worthington believes “what 30 years ago was a fledgling, mundane product line, containing three or four formulations, is today a well-rounded product line with some 15 to 16 formulations available.” Designing with Plastics is an electronic newsletter targeting engineers, specifiers and other end-users. The IAPD Industry Research and Benchmarking Committee will soon be kicking off the second annual Manufacturers’ Market Data Study.
Statistics reported by all IAPD manufacturer member companies are vital to the collective data of the final report. We highly encourage your input and encourage you to respond to the survey, when it becomes available.
IAPD's Education Committee is finishing up its work on a new certificate program designed specifically for plastic distribution salespeople. The committee is working with Chuck Holmes, Corporate Strategies Inc., on this project, which is scheduled to launch later this summer.
This will be the third certificate program developed by the committee.
