Devin Walker, IAPD Marketing and Communications Director

Walker’s initial priorities will focus on the IAPD web presence, overall marketing messages and reaching out to other organizations. He will be enhancing the IAPD website to segment technical content for internal membership categories and the end-using/engineering community. Walker is also going to implement marketing strategies to promote plastics, IAPD members and IAPD as a credible resource for technical information on plastics stock shapes and pipe, valves and fittings. In addition, he will enhance IAPD’s relationships with other associations and media outlets that represent the plastics supply chain and engineering audiences. He will work closely with IAPD’s Marketing and Convention and Expo Committees and IAPD staff to drive integrated marketing campaigns to increase IAPD’s visibility in the engineering community and overall relationships with our members’ customers.

Since 1994, Walker has been involved with some of the most innovative Internet concepts. Beginning with his work at American/Warner Brothers Records, Walker has been on teams that helped introduce radical changes in the way music is obtained through the Internet. Walker has worked on a diverse array of online projects, including the Ultimate Band List (ubl.com) and newspaper websites for Knight Ridder and Morris Communications. In addition, he founded the groundbreaking online art website Printpop.com. Recently, Walker headed up marketing initiatives in Kansas City for the world-famous Kansas City Art Institute and Gail’s Harley-Davidson.

“Devin brings to IAPD an incredible history of marketing, brand-building, customer relationship building strategies, entrepreneurialism, technical skills and integrated marketing experience, including social media. Given IAPD’s need to build awareness of plastics with the engineering and end-using audience and our desire to build credibility within this community, Devin’s experience and approach is exactly what we were looking for in a Marketing and Communications Director,” says Susan Avery, CAE, IAPD Executive Director.

Walker holds a Masters of Business Administration/Marketing Degree from the Arizona State University – W.P. Carey School of Business. In his free time, he volunteers with the KU Small Business Development Center coaching new business owners.  Walker is also very active with Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas and the Brothers in Blue Program at Lansing prison, where he mentors hopeful entrepreneurs.
