Remembering Cliff Birkeland, IAPD Past President

The IAPD community is saddened to hear about the loss of Clifford Engh Birkeland, age 68, who passed away on Monday, April 29 after a courageous battle with cancer.


Birkeland served on the Board of Directors for IAPD from 1983-1994 and as IAPD president from 1991-1992. He was actively involved with the IAPD Scholarship Committee. He retired in April 2011 from Regional Supply Inc. where he worked for 45 years, including as general manager from 1984 to retirement.

He is survived by his wife Lynne; four sons and two daughters: Eric (Kelley), Brian (Angie), Rebecca (Matt) Barton, Lars (Kera), Shanna, and Brett (Haley); and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the East Mill Creek 2nd Ward, 3750 South Hillside Lane, Salt Lake City, UT, USA. Interment was at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, UT, USA.

As a husband, father, grandfather, friend and successful businessman, Birkeland leaves a lasting and enduring legacy and will be greatly missed by all. Click here to read Birkeland’s full obituary.
