What is connecX?

IAPD is excited to introduce connecX, an all-new way to streamline the way suppliers and customers connect at the IAPD Annual Convention. IAPD connecX takes what you already enjoy about private meetings and the trade show and builds on it. Now, there are even more opportunities to meet with new and existing connections. For the first time ever, IAPD is offering appointment-matching services during the trade show, freeing up your time to do what you do best — sell performance plastics. Do you have a customer you’ve been trying to see but can’t seem to get time with them in a private meeting room? Set a time to meet during connecX!

Why exhibit at connecX?

In 2018-2019, a task force engaged in an in-depth study of the convention experience. Based on extensive research and input from IAPD members and convention attendees, the task force determined that supplier meetings and the trade show serve a different audience, therefore have different value to our attendees.

  • All distributor members surveyed indicated that having a dedicated time and space to meet with manufacturers is critical
  • However, not all distributors get appointments with suppliers in the private meeting rooms, and rely on seeing them on the trade show floor, sometimes only to find they are not exhibiting.
  • Manufacturers that aren’t exhibiting are missing out on meeting with distributors, who rate the trade show important or very important

Importance of Trade Show to IAPD Members

More than 73 percent of distributors believe manufacturers having a presence at the tradeshow is important or very important.

A survey to members showed that the tradeshow is a highly valuable component of the convention experience for many attendees. Connecting manufacturers with distributors of all sizes and connecting smaller distributors with larger manufacturers can benefit the distribution channel. connecX is the prime opportunity to facilitate meetings in the most efficient way possible.

Appointment Setting

New for 2021 – appointment setting service for exhibitors! In addition to getting walk through floor traffic, you will now be able to set short appointments with customers who you may not be able to meet with in private meeting rooms.
  • Exhibitors secure a booth and get into the system for appointments.
  • The appointment setting will work like this:
    • As convention attendees register, they indicate who they want to meet with and/or manufacturers select from registered convention delegates and send an invitation to meet.
    • Exhibitors decide whether to meet with them and for how long.
    • Exhibitors will set their meeting slots and determine the length of time, for example 10 minutes on the show floor.
    • Participating exhibitors will see the list of attendees and can send them meeting requests.
    • Both parties have to agree to the meeting.

Private Meeting Rooms

connecX is an opportune time for substantive meetings with your business partners. To better facilitate your success we have added time slots to the schedule of events for these important meetings.

Meeting Rooms are Available for a Full Day Rental and Include:
  • Your company name listed on the official IAPD schedule.
  • Sign with your company logo outside the meeting room door.
  • Lessen your administrative burden with discount packages for food and beverage and audio/visual equipment (for an additional fee) from the Omni Louisville Hotel. IAPD will handle the logistics for you!
