IAPD Announces 2021 Environmental Excellence Award Recipients

OVERLAND PARK, KS - The International Association of Plastics Distribution (IAPD), the international trade association comprised of companies engaged in the distribution and manufacturer of performance plastics, is pleased to announce the following recipients of its annual Environmental Excellence Award:

Gold – Curbell Plastics, Inc.
Silver - Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials
Bronze – Piedmont Plastics and Cope Plastics, Inc.

New this year is the Impact Award, which goes to a company or branch location that implemented a change that made a positive environmental impact. We’re thrilled to present the first-ever Impact Award to Vycom for their TakeBack recycling program.

Honorable mention goes to the following companies:
- Cast Nylons Ltd
- Polymer Industries
- Polymershapes
- Primex Plastics Corporation

The recipients were honored during the opening general session at the 65th Annual IAPD Convention in Louisville, KY, USA, by IAPD President Craig Saunders.

“Congratulations to our Environmental Award recipients and the companies receiving honorable mentions. Your work shows the benefits of a robust environmental and sustainability culture. The Environmental Committee congratulates you on this achievement,” said IAPD Environmental Committee Chair Pat Barrett.

The awards celebrate the environmentally responsible practices of IAPD member companies, including recycling, conservation, community outreach, employee engagement and more. The award application assigns a point value to sustainability practices in each of these categories. Applicants also had the option to submit a short video showing their environmental initiatives to accrue additional points. Awards are determined based on a point system.

“IAPD members understand the excellent sustainability benefits of performance plastics and these award recipients are among the many member companies that operate in an environmentally responsible manner. The Environmental Excellence Award celebrates their accomplishments and, we hope, will help to show the many benefits of performance plastics,” said IAPD CEO Susan Avery, CAE.

Any IAPD member company is eligible to apply for the IAPD Annual Environmental Excellence Awards. Applications are collected online in the months prior to the convention.

In addition to the awards program, the IAPD GreenScene(TM) program honors all member companies that are engaging in environmentally friendly practices. IAPD GreenScene(TM) members are determined based on receiving at least 100 points on the GreenScene(TM) application.
