IAPD Announces Performance Plastics Magazine
Overland Park, KS — The International Association of Plastics Distribution (IAPD), the international trade association comprised of companies engaged in the distribution and manufacturer of engineering plastics, has rebranded its flagship publication to Performance Plastics, A Publication of the International Association of Plastics Distribution.
Previously named The IAPD Magazine, the bimonthly publication is sent to IAPD members, non-members and end users of plastics, such as engineers, designers, specifiers, architects, etc. The change to Performance Plastics will give the non-member and end-user audience a more accurate description of the content of the magazine as well as reinforce the association’s branding efforts surrounding the term performance plastics.
“IAPD leadership adopted the term ‘performance plastics’ in 2015 to differentiate the engineering-grade industrial plastics that our members distribute and manufacture from single use plastics that are represented by other plastics associations,” explained IAPD CEO Susan Avery, CAE. “IAPD’s performance plastics are improving life in so many different ways, such as making airplanes lighter and more fuel efficient, medical applications healthier for patients, buildings safer, the list goes on. Plus, after their useful life, these plastics are almost always able to be recycled into other applications.”
In addition to the name change and new magazine logo, the order of the content has been shifted. Product news and application stories are now at the front of the magazine, along with feature articles and more general information that appeals to a wide audience. Association-related news, which had previously been in the front of the magazine, is now near the back. IAPD members still have access to it, but this reordering of content is designed to get and keep the attention of readers who might be interested in plastics but not be familiar with IAPD.

The International Association of Plastics Distribution (IAPD) is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2016. Established in 1956, IAPD brings together distributors, fabricators, manufacturers, manufacturers’ representatives, recyclers and service providers in an environment which encourages a free flow of ideas and information that help members build their businesses. Every program and service we provide is designed with the simple goal of helping our members increase profitability. Membership in IAPD is an affordable business investment. IAPD provides training, connections with customers and suppliers and information about developments that impact the industry. What makes IAPD unique is a commitment to educating customers and other key end-users about plastics. In other words, IAPD works with members to build the demand for plastics. Central to this effort is the reinforcement of the value of distribution. For more information, visit www.iapd.org.
