e-Training Webinars

Webinars are a convenient, quick and cost-effective way to educate IAPD members, plastics professionals and end users about the vast world of performance plastics. Presentations range from 30 minutes to an hour and allow companies to easily inform a target audience about an interesting topic they are knowledgeable on. If you have an area of expertise that you would like to present via webinar, please contact Courtney Karr to schedule a 2018 date.

Reaching the Next Generation of Plastics Engineers: Working with Startups

Friday, July 27, 2018
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. CDT

Nonspec provides affordable and adjustable prosthetic limb systems made of performance plastics to amputees.  Five years ago, Nonspec developed relationships with several IAPD members that proved mutually beneficial. The IAPD members provided business growth advice and helped the Nonspec team identify the best materials for their devices. Nonspec, in turn, became ambassadors for the many benefits of performance plastics, especially among their university peers. During this webinar, attendees will learn how to best work with startups by minimizing risks and maximizing rewards.

About Nonspec
Nonspec believes that every person deserves the right to a comfortable, reliable and sustainable prosthetic. The team has developed telescoping prosthetic arms and legs that allow young amputees to have the properly sized prosthetic as their bodies grow. This is vital to correct spine development and allows these children to have much more normal lives. Considering that children need prosthetics replaced as often as they need new shoes, the prosthetics that Nonspec produce are nothing short of revolutionary. Nonspec won the first place prize at IAPD’s Plastics Design Competition in 2013.

Jonathan Perez de Alderete has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. degrees in business and PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Technology focused on the amputee fitting process. His expertise is in mechanical simulation and analysis, business model development and device prototyping.

Erin Keaney has her B.S., M.S. and PhD in Plastics Engineering. Her expertise is in medical device design, development and manufacturing. She has 7 years of experience in medical device companies and 5 years of experience with startups.

Distributor Analytics: So What?

Friday, September 21, 2018
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. CST

Lately it seems you can’t read a publication in the distribution world that doesn’t tout the many benefits of analytics for staying competitive and growing your business. But how can analytics help your company?

Join MITS for a webinar where we will explore the many ways distributor analytics can help your organization capture more cash, boost profitability, and increase customer satisfaction and engagement. We’ll show you specific examples of how you can:

Track performance against company goals – align your teams around company goals and get visibility into their success—or identify performance in need of improvement
Discover problems you may not know about – easily spot numbers trending the wrong way and quickly drill down to find and fix the source of the problem
Improve sales team performance – with scorecards that identify the most important accounts and information to focus on, sales reps can increase the quality of their calls, and see where they might be losing out to competition
Reduce time spent running reports – self-serve reporting gives your teams the information they need when they need it, freeing up IT to focus on more important projects You’ll also get to see the MITS solution in action, including a demo of some of the 200+ reports, dashboards, and scorecards covering sales, inventory, purchasing, and AR that come ready to run out of the box.

Colin Sherman, Director of Sales, MITS
During his 15 years at MITS, Colin has become well known in the distribution industry. He has helped hundreds of wholesale distributors use reporting and business intelligence to increase sales and improve operational efficiency. Colin currently manages the Infor market for MITS, and is responsible for launching MITS into new markets.
