Uses of UHMW-PE: From the Fields to the Grain Elevator
Tire shields made from Ramex® UV, which is UHMW-PE with a UV inhibitor, protect crops from tires.

The agricultural industry faces a myriad of challenges through the range of its processes: from soil preparation, seed planting and crop harvesting to the delivery of farm products to market. Farmers face the prospects of rising energy costs, poor crop conditions, climate change and low crop prices. The very harsh physical environment farming equipment is exposed to is just as demanding. The effects of moisture, abrasion and impact are deleterious to the effectiveness and durability of farm equipment and components. UHMW-PE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) offers reliable solutions to the farmer by extending equipment life and improving operational efficiency. Click here for more information about how products made from UHMW-PE are helping farmers.

Reaping the Benefit of the Ethanol Boom

There is large growth and incentives available from the farmer all the way to the consumer to use ethanol, which will also help keep our country beautiful and help the U.S. economy.

Find out more about the opportunities available thanks to ethanol.

Technical Advisory: Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE)

UHMW-PE has outstanding abrasion resistance and an extremely low coefficient of friction. Impact strength is high and chemical resistance is excellent. The material does not break in impact strength tests using standard notched specimens.

UHMW-PE has outperformed other materials, including metals, in applications such as bearings, chute linings, pipe for distribution of slurry materials and many more.

Holy Cow! Plastics Make Agriculture Moooooore Efficient

Do you want longer-lasting parts on your machinery that require less horespower to run and are so quiet they don't bother the animals? Look no further than plastics for your agricultural needs.

Did you know that more and more agricultural products, including thousands of acres of thin mulch film, which are used to produce high quality vegetables, are being recycled into “plastic wood” and numerous other secondary products, keeping those materials out of landfills, creating demand for recycling plants and making farms more sustainable?
